Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview

Xometry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Core Platform team. This role is a strategic technical leadership position focused on the architectural evolution of our flagship enterprise partnership.

You will be responsible for re-architecting Xometry’s core application services to live natively within our partner's digital ecosystem. You will shape technical direction across multiple products, establishing engineering patterns that allow Xometry’s AI to operate directly on native 3D geometry to deliver zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement.

*Note: This role requires a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) at our North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA office location.*

How You'll Contribute

• Software Development and Technical Craft: Design high-performance solutions extending beyond a single org, establishing organizational standards for embedding Xometry-AI into external PLM environments while adhering to strict enterprise SLIs/SLOs.
• AI Fluency: Lead efforts to integrate production ML pipelines into the application layer for optimized model serving and real-time geometry analysis. Champion AI-assisted development practices and mentor engineers.
• Problem Solving and Decision Making: Address challenges around data gravity and security, creating governance networks where part files remain securely within partner network infrastructure.
• Scope and Impact: Establish strategic direction and lead execution of core integrations, ensuring DFM (Manufacturability) and IQE (Pricing) AI engines deliver high business value.
• Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate cross-organizational technical discourse, align with senior leadership, and guide cross-functional work across marketplace and data science teams.
• Operational Excellence: Define reliability and security standards for enterprise-grade partner-hosted or Xometry-hosted deployments.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software development experience scaling complex platforms.
• Expert-level mastery of Python, AWS infrastructure, and modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js).
• Proven experience as a systems architect shaping technical direction across teams.
• Track record of driving 6–12 month initiatives from endorsement to successful production deployment.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence senior leadership and external partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building SaaS platforms or complex B2B integration hubs.
• Industrial tech background (manufacturing, logistics, or CAD/PLM software).
• Deep understanding of enterprise data controls, dedicated multi-tenancy, and SOC 2 / ISO compliance.
• Experience architecting large-scale ML platforms or high-frequency marketplace engines.
