Senior Software Engineer, International

About the Role

Robinhood's International engineering team expands its products globally and scales its platform for customers in diverse markets. As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will connect high-performance frontend interfaces with resilient backend distributed systems to deliver localized onboarding, multi-currency funding, regional trading, and other international customer experiences.

You will lead complex technical designs and build reusable platform abstractions that support expansion while maintaining security, availability, and compliance.

Location and Work Arrangement

• Based in New York City, Toronto, or Menlo Park, California.
• In-person office attendance is expected at least three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain frontend interfaces using React/TypeScript and scale backend services using Go/Python.
• Own technical delivery of localized onboarding, identity verification (KYC/AML), multi-currency funding, and regional trading capabilities.
• Build and optimize growth mechanisms, localized promotion engines, and user acquisition pipelines.
• Architect modular internationalization and localization services that make expansion into additional jurisdictions faster and more reliable.
• Build for high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance; implement telemetry and automated testing; participate in production on-call rotations.
• Partner with Product Management, Product Design, Compliance, Legal, and Platform teams to translate jurisdictional requirements into user-centric technical solutions.

Qualifications

• At least five years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production systems across the full stack.
• Proficiency with modern frontend technologies and frameworks, such as React and TypeScript, emphasizing performance, accessibility, and state management.
• Strong experience building scalable distributed services in languages such as Go or Python, using relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis, and working with event-driven architectures such as Kafka.
• Proven ability to take complex features from ambiguity through technical design, phased rollout, production validation, and post-launch maintenance.
• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, service-oriented architectures, and microservice integration patterns.
• Clear, structured communication to explain trade-offs, drive technical consensus across distributed teams, and align with non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation

Annual base pay varies by compensation zone:

• Zone 1: $196,000–$230,000 USD — Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC.
• Zone 2: $172,000–$202,000 USD — Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL.
• Zone 3: $153,000–$179,000 USD — Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL.

Compensation for other locations can be discussed with the recruiter. Actual base pay depends on job-related factors including education, training, experience, location, business needs, and market demands. The role is also eligible for bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.
