Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Tanium seeks a Senior Software Engineer focused on platform development to build and maintain services that power its products. You will work with a nimble development team and collaborate with product management and customers to design, develop, test, deploy, and iterate on products and supporting services.

Location and Schedule

This full-time hybrid role requires at least three days per week in one of these offices:

• Bellevue, WA
• Durham, NC
• Emeryville, CA

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Tanium's servers and client alongside an agile development team.
• Incorporate customer engagement and feedback into product design and development.
• Design, develop, and test new product ideas from the ground up, working with product management for feedback and input.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; a Computer Science degree or related technical field is preferred.
• At least 7 years of industry experience; 10 or more years preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of C++.
• Experience designing and building high-performance, secure, scalable, observable, supportable, and maintainable backend services and APIs.
• Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with cryptographic primitives, TLS, and PKI.
• Experience designing and developing HTTP APIs.
• Experience with modern software development and automation tools such as Git, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI tools into software development, including AI-assisted coding and prompt engineering.
• Sound judgment in balancing rapid development with long-term code maintainability and supportability.
• Effective technical and nontechnical communication, both written and oral.
• Commitment to writing automated tests as part of development.
• Strong debugging skills and ability to resolve production issues under pressure.
• Knowledge of modern server-side and browser-side frameworks and versatility in learning new tools.
• Attention to detail and enthusiasm for creating an excellent user experience.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary: $191,000–$293,000. Actual offers may vary based on location, education, skills, training, and experience.
