About the Role

We are looking for a talented engineer to join our New Products Development Team working on the Roku TV program. You will be responsible for core tasks ranging from Roku OS feature development, SoC partner collaboration, third-party API integration, code maintenance, design scalability solutions to help onboard new factories, supporting our QA and Channel certification teams, and everything else involved in our end-to-end product development and release cycles. You will be expected to use AI coding tools daily to accelerate your work and elevate the quality of your output.

Responsibilities

  • Roku OS feature development, leveraging AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and iteration
  • Code maintenance and scalability solution design and development
  • Partner with internal QA and development teams
  • System-on-a-Chip (SoC) integration and platform bring-up
  • Third-party API integration
  • Work across end-to-end product development and release cycles
  • Critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and performance in embedded contexts
  • Contribute to team AI productivity by sharing effective prompts, workflows, and tooling improvements

Qualifications

Core Engineering Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant fields
  • 8+ years of relevant software development experience
  • 4+ years C/C++ coding experience
  • Experience developing/debugging on Linux or Android-based embedded platforms
  • Strong understanding of Linux system and kernel concepts, multithreading primitives, Linux tools, libraries, and open-source development

  • Prompt engineering & AI code review (Required): Ability to write effective prompts, iterate on AI output, and critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and performance; identify hallucinations, subtle bugs, and security vulnerabilities
  • Agentic coding tool proficiency (Required): Hands-on experience with agentic coding harnesses (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex) driving an agent through non-trivial engineering tasks, verifying output, and recovering from errors
  • AI threat awareness (Required): Understanding of AI vulnerabilities (prompt injection, data leakage, etc.) and ability to code defensively
  • Builder mentality (Required): Actively pushes AI boundaries and views AI as core to daily workflows
  • Portfolio of projects where AI tools were central to the development process (Preferred)
