Software Engineer, Infrastructure Platform

About the Role

Chime Financial, Inc is hiring a Software Engineer for its Infrastructure Platform team in Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA. The team manages interactions with infrastructure components including Terraform, Argo CD, AWS resources, and internal tooling, supporting Chime's customer-facing products.

You will develop tools to create and maintain cloud infrastructure, automate management of complex service-oriented applications, and create frameworks supporting platform stability and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Automate scaling, monitoring, and operations.
• Build self-service tools for the infrastructure team and engineering organization using Ruby on Rails and Go.
• Design, build, and support cloud infrastructure using automation and infrastructure as code, including maintaining Terraform modules.
• Develop tools and processes supporting product security, scalability, and availability, including managing the Kubernetes Helm chart repository and continuous deployments.
• Partner with product engineers to build services using modern design patterns, such as the 12 Factor App methodology.
• Build relationships with engineers, managers, and colleagues based on trust, empathy, and technical expertise.

Qualifications

• More than 2 years of cloud and infrastructure experience.
• Strong development experience in Ruby on Rails and Go.
• Professional experience in a DevOps, SRE, or production engineering role supporting customer-facing web services.
• Success building effective partnerships and communicating with engineers and teams.
• Experience creating and working with containers, using container orchestration tools, and managing Kubernetes Helm charts.
• Experience building and managing highly available public cloud infrastructure and services, emphasizing stability, scalability, and security.
• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools, including maintaining Terraform modules.
• Experience supporting relational or NoSQL databases, message buses, caching services, and other common service components.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and testing platforms, particularly continuous deployments.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.
• A positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and customer focus.
• Experience with some of AWS services, Kubernetes, Argo CD, Datadog, and Terraform.

Work Arrangement

Compensation and Benefits

• Listed annual base salary: $133,000–$184,000 USD. Actual base salary may be higher depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
