Senior Software Engineer II, Route Planning
Samsara
remote · full time · Senior
$154,700 - $260,000
About the Role
Our customers are faced with a constant stream of decisions every day to meet commitments to their own customers: which orders need to be delivered when, which driver is equipped to drive which truck, and how to balance delivering every order against fleet utilization and profitability.
As an engineer on the Route Planning team, you might work on a product that helps customers recover efficiency in their plans that has degraded with the addition of new customers or deal with the sudden influx of orders on the day of delivery. You will also help measure efficiency of the plans across our Routing products, including route execution and commercial navigation.
We are a rapidly scaling team that has found product market fit and is expanding to new verticals, looking for someone to help shape and build the next generation of Route Planning products.

- Leverage AI with strong judgement, knowing when to build a prototype to unblock a customer deal or accelerate a refactor that reduces risk of incidents.
- Partner with the engineering manager and staff engineers to advocate for technical excellence on the team.
- Work with the product manager and designer to build interfaces and APIs that make a planner’s work more efficient.
- Mentor junior engineers on the team and help build a strong technical bench.

- Willingness to engage directly with customers when needed.
Benefits
Flexible employee-led remote model, comprehensive health and parental leave plans, professional development stipend, and equity awards.
