Full Stack Software Engineer, Internal Systems - Memphis

Role

SpaceX is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer for its Internal Systems team in Memphis, Tennessee. The application software team builds mission-critical applications supporting launch vehicle production and flight, Starship build and reuse, Starlink manufacturing, satellite constellation operations, and customer-facing Starlink services.

Engineers own challenging problems and collaborate with teams throughout SpaceX to design and deliver reliable solutions. Aerospace experience is not required. The team values motivation, respect, fairness, support, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable software solutions used across SpaceX.
• Create new applications that improve company operations.
• Build prototypes to validate design concepts and quantify technical constraints.
• Own all aspects of software engineering and product development.
• Investigate users’ problems and create efficient solutions.
• Contribute to architecture, design, and code reviews.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; alternatively, 2+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree.
• 1+ years of experience in full stack development.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Programming experience in Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, Java, or a similar object-oriented language.
• 1+ years of rigorous experience building single-page web applications.
• Experience with version control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery concepts.
• Expertise in software system design.
• Deep understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring.
• Expertise in profiling and improving application performance.
• Experience with build systems such as Make, Bazel/Pants/Buck, or Gradle, and package management tools such as pip or npm.
• Experience with UNIX-like operating systems and management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Experience with in-stream data processing using Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or similar technologies.
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Frontend experience with Angular, React, or a similar JavaScript framework.
• Database experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar technologies.

Work Requirements

• This role is onsite in Memphis. Remote and hybrid work will not be considered.
• Extended hours or weekend work may be requested depending on launch cadence.
