About the Role

As an Applied AI Architect, Commercial, you will serve as a pre-sales technical advisor helping customers understand, integrate, and deploy Claude. You will combine hands-on software development with customer-facing architecture work to address business challenges while maintaining safety and reliability.

Work closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to guide priority accounts from technical discovery through deployment, while building reusable blueprints, demos, and enablement assets for the broader Commercial customer base.

Responsibilities

• Partner with account executives to understand customer requirements and translate business objectives into technical solutions.
• Serve as the primary technical advisor throughout discovery, evaluation, and deployment, coordinating across internal teams and stakeholders.
• Support customers building with the Claude API, Claude Code, and Claude for Enterprise.
• Build working prototypes, proof-of-concepts, evaluation frameworks, and near-production code examples customers can extend.
• Create reusable blueprints, demos, and enablement assets.
• Guide scalable architecture decisions and integration into existing enterprise technology stacks.
• Help customers evaluate Claude's performance for their specific use cases.
• Identify common integration patterns and share insights with Product and Engineering.
• Travel occasionally for customer workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building.
• Stay current on LLM capabilities and implementation patterns.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of highly technical software engineering or equivalent experience with some customer-facing exposure, or 3+ years as a Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or Technical Account Manager with strong hands-on building experience.
• Experience shipping real software, with strong coding ability and regular hands-on prototype development. Comfort with Python is expected.
• A systems mindset focused on reusable solutions.
• Ability to build trust with technical stakeholders, adapt communication to different audiences, and translate between technical and business requirements.
• Experience designing scalable cloud architectures and integrating enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with common LLM frameworks and tools, or a background in machine learning or data science.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, early-stage environments and creating structure as needed.
• Interest in cross-organizational collaboration, managing trade-offs, and balancing competing priorities.
• Enthusiasm for teaching, mentoring, and helping others succeed.
• Creative thinking about safe, beneficial uses of technology.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Relevant study may be demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual compensation range: $240,000–$315,000 USD.
• For sales roles, the posted range represents on-target earnings, including annual base salary and target sales commissions or bonuses.
• Benefits include optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office space.

Location and Logistics

• Locations: San Francisco, CA, or New York City, NY. The posting labels this role on-site.
• Anthropic's general hybrid policy expects staff in an office at least 25% of the time; some roles require more office attendance.
