About the Role

GoFundMe is hiring a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead its Integrations Platform team. The team builds and operates public APIs, webhooks, Salesforce integrations, and strategic integration solutions connecting GoFundMe with customers, nonprofit partners, and third-party platforms. The role combines people leadership, technical strategy, and hands-on engineering.

Candidates must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area and work in the office three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow, and support approximately 5–8 software engineers, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, high-performing team.
  • Own delivery of the integrations roadmap, balancing partner needs, platform capabilities, reliability, and technical debt.
  • Act as a player-coach through architecture reviews, technical proposals, design documents, and targeted prototyping.
  • Partner with senior individual contributors to establish technical direction, architectural alignment, engineering quality, and operational excellence.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop engineers through regular one-on-ones, actionable feedback, growth plans, and performance management.
  • Guide incremental migration to the next-generation integrations platform, managing scope, risk, phased cutovers, and rollback strategies without disrupting customers or nonprofit partners.
  • Improve correctness-critical operations through healthy on-call practices, SLO-based monitoring, incident response, and blameless retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Go-to-Market, Customer Success, and engineering teams to deliver integration experiences.
  • Work directly with customers and external technology partners to troubleshoot complex integrations.
  • Champion AI-assisted development using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, with repository conventions, review discipline, and guardrails for safe AI-agent contributions.
  • Represent the team's priorities, work, and needs across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading and growing software engineering teams as a people manager, supported by a strong prior hands-on engineering background.
  • Ability to engage deeply in backend, distributed, and event-driven architecture discussions and coach engineers on technical decisions.
  • Familiarity with modern integration technologies such as TypeScript/Node.js, APIs, webhooks, message-driven architectures, and AWS services including Lambda, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, ECS, and API Gateway.
  • A track record of recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers and building healthy, motivated teams.
  • Proven delivery of complex platform or backend projects, including management of scope, risk, and cross-team stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Product, Design, Customer Success, Sales, and external partners on customer-focused solutions.
  • Comfort with correctness-critical distributed systems concepts, including idempotency, reliable event processing, and safe, phased production migrations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration, a product-minded approach, and enthusiasm for mentoring engineers and solving complex technical challenges.
  • Experience improving on-call health, observability, and incident management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing teams building integrations, platforms, public/private APIs, or developer-facing services.
  • Salesforce integration experience, especially nonprofit products such as NPC, NPSP, or Experience Cloud, and understanding of CRM ecosystems and nonprofit or fundraising technology.
  • Familiarity with durable execution or workflow orchestration technologies such as Temporal or Cadence.
  • Experience leading re-platforming or large-scale migrations while operating legacy and modern systems simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with iPaaS platforms such as Zapier or Workato and PHP/Laravel environments.
  • Experience establishing conventions and verification practices for safe AI coding-agent contributions at scale.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-time annual salary: $243,000–$364,000, plus equity and benefits. Individual pay depends on location, relevant skills, experience, education, and training.
  • Comprehensive healthcare, financial assistance for hybrid work and family planning, generous parental leave, flexible time off, and mental health and wellness resources.
