Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Roku is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build a portfolio of tools and platform capabilities that empower our programming operations team. In this role, you will build user experiences and tools that define and drive content workflows, contributing to our core web application platform.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop computer and network software programs.
• Build a portfolio of tools and platform capabilities that empower our programming operations team.
• Build user experiences and tools that define and drive content workflows.
• Code, test, document, and deliver scalable and reliable platform services and components creating the foundation of the core web application platform with cross-browser compatibility, accessibility, and search engine optimization.
• Optimize and streamline Roku's web application platform to facilitate a seamless implementation experience for developers and partners.
• Suggest tools, cloud-based technologies/services, and best practices to improve site stability, performance, and quality.
• Participate in an Agile development process including scoping, technical design, estimation, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, maintenance, and support.
• Take responsibility for individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with limited supervision.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in the position or a related occupation.
• At least 1 year of prior work experience in:

- Algorithms & Data Structures
- Full Stack Web Development using JavaScript frameworks (React, Node.js, TypeScript, and React Native)
- Object-oriented design paradigm
- Cloud Computing & Infrastructure technologies (AWS Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, Lambda, CloudFront, etc.)
- HTML, CSS, and Java
- Database/Storage Systems (DynamoDB, S3, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Software Engineering practices

Work Arrangement

Roku operates in a hybrid environment where teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays flexible for remote work (up to one day per week telecommuting permitted).
