About the Role
Xometry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Core Platform team. This role is a strategic technical leadership position focused on the architectural evolution of our flagship enterprise partnership.
You will be responsible for re-architecting Xometry’s core application services to live natively within our partner's digital ecosystem. You will shape the technical direction of multiple products, establishing engineering patterns that allow Xometry’s AI—trained on millions of parts—to operate directly on our partner's native 3D geometry to achieve zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement.
*Note: This role requires a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) at our North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA office location.*
How You'll Contribute
- Software Development and Technical Craft: Design high-performance solutions extending beyond a single org, establishing standards for how Xometry-AI is embedded into external PLM environments, adhering to strict enterprise SLIs/SLOs.
- AI Fluency: Lead efforts to integrate production ML pipelines into the application layer through optimized model serving and real-time geometry analysis. Champion AI-assisted development practices and mentor engineers.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making: Address unique challenges regarding data gravity, security, and ring-fenced data governance where part files remain securely within partner network infrastructure.
- Scope and Impact: Establish the strategic direction and execute core integrations combining DFM (Manufacturability) and IQE (Pricing) AI engines.
- Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate technical discourse across Xometry, guiding risk/reward conversations with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Operational Excellence: Define reliability and security standards for enterprise-grade deployments (partner-hosted or Xometry-hosted) and multi-tenant management.

- Track record of securing endorsement for 6–12 month initiatives and driving them to successful production deployment.
- Ability to influence senior leadership and external partners on technical strategy.
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in building SaaS platforms or complex B2B integration hubs.
- Experience with manufacturing, logistics, or CAD/PLM software ecosystems.
