Staff Software Engineer, iOS Platform

About the Role

The iOS Platform team sets the technical direction for iOS at Reddit. Our customers are primarily other engineers. It’s our job to help improve developer efficiency by providing libraries/APIs/frameworks, monitoring performance, building shared components, improving build tools, etc. In the codebase, we own the core components of the app such as the networking layer, persistence, and dependency injection.

As a Staff Engineer in the iOS Platform team, you will be responsible for designing a solid foundation for our iOS application development to scale for the next 100M+ DAUs. You will have company-wide scope, impact, and responsibility in shaping the future of iOS development at Reddit, mentoring senior iOS engineers, and serving as the go-to person for complex architecture challenges.

What You’ll Do

• Own the architecture of Reddit’s iOS Mobile App and make it scale to the next 100M+ DAUs.
• Identify gaps in current iOS App Architecture, and lead redesign of the iOS platform to improve modularity, performance, and quality.
• Build agentic workflows to accelerate migrations across a multi-million line of code repository.
• Mentor iOS developers across the company.
• Be the go-to person for developers on complex problems in iOS development.

What We Expect From You

• 10+ years of software development experience with at least 5+ years in designing/developing iOS applications.
• Deep experience-based understanding of how to build mobile applications at scale.
• Strategic thinker thriving on developing long-term technical foundations and scalable software.
• Experience in influencing larger (100+ engineers) organizations on technical direction/best practices related to iOS.
• Experience with modern iOS development frameworks such as SwiftUI and structured concurrency.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams such as design, product, and data teams.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent technical expertise.
