Systems Specialist, Physical Safety and Security

About the Role

At Adyen, the safety and security of our people, workplaces, and assets is a global priority. Reporting to the Global Head of Physical Safety & Security, you will be the technical owner and subject matter expert for Adyen’s global physical safety and security technology environment. This includes access control and credentialing, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, emergency communication, and emerging AI-enabled technologies.

You will be the primary technical point of contact across Adyen’s global office network, shaping technology strategy, defining standards, designing solutions, managing system administration, and leading technical integrations and deployments.

What You’ll Do

Physical Safety & Security Systems

• Own the technical lifecycle of physical safety and security systems from architecture to decommissioning.
• Manage enterprise access control, credentialing/badging, CCTV, intrusion detection, visitor management, intercoms, and emergency communication systems.
• Ensure availability, reliability, and appropriate configuration of physical safety and security platforms.
• Manage device onboarding, configuration, system administration, and dependencies.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system issues with IT and external vendors.
• Manage technical system incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, and technical standards.

Security Technology Architecture & Design

• Design physical security technology solutions for new offices, relocations, expansions, and workplace projects.
• Translate requirements, risk assessments, and business needs into practical technical designs.
• Work with Workplace, IT, contractors, and integrators throughout design and implementation.
• Lead technical commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover.

Access Control & Identity

• Own technical administration of the global access-control environment.
• Create and maintain access profiles, groups, permissions, and configurations.
• Partner with IT and HR on identity and employee lifecycle integrations (joiner, mover, leaver).

Integrations, Automation & AI

• Develop and support integrations between physical security platforms and enterprise systems using APIs, cloud platforms, and automation tools.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes.
• Support testing, deployment, and operation of AI-enabled physical safety and security capabilities.
• Conduct technical research and proof-of-concept testing for emerging technologies.

Projects, Migrations & Operational Support

• Lead technical delivery of projects, firmware upgrades, patches, and platform migrations.
• Support business continuity, backup, and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Provide technical support for routine requests and support investigations with system data and logs.
• Act as technical point of contact for external technology vendors and integrators.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in physical security technology, electronic security systems, or a closely related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise access control and CCTV systems.
• Experience designing and delivering physical security technology solutions across multiple sites.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, networks, and integrations.
• Experience integrating physical security systems with enterprise IT, identity, or HR platforms.
• Working knowledge of APIs, cloud technologies, automation, and system integrations.
• Solid understanding of IP-based physical security systems and networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE, VPNs, firewall requirements).
• Interest in cloud-based security platforms, AI/ML applications, and video analytics.
• Experience supporting or integrating AI-enabled security solutions is preferred.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in engineering, information technology, electronic security, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant physical security technology certification or professional qualification is an advantage.
