Senior Software Engineer, Backend

About the Role

We’re looking for a backend focused Senior Software Engineer to join our Integrations team. You will design, build, and maintain critical APIs and data pipelines that enable seamless clinical workflows and real-time data exchange across external systems and our core product.

Responsibilities

• Drive the architecture of our application platform, considering the team and our future product roadmap.
• Collaborate with product, design, machine learning, and infrastructure teams.
• Drive and uphold high engineering standards, bringing consistency to codebases and ensuring software is adequately reviewed, tested, and integrated.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning by mentoring teammates and sharing technical knowledge.
• Champion code quality for both your individual contributions and the broader team's output.
• Contribute to a SaaS platform ensuring reliability, data integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with clinical, QA, and regulatory teams to ensure software changes meet validation expectations and support inspection readiness.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related technical field.
• 5+ years of full life cycle development experience.
• Demonstrated ability to take on complex tasks, learn quickly, and work in a proactive manner.
• Demonstrated experience and skills in designing and building Python-based (FastAPI or Django) applications.
• Demonstrated foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO design.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a distributed team and work autonomously; problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to attend client-facing meetings and explain technical concepts to non-experts.
• Demonstrated cloud platform experience (AWS).

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related technical field.
• Experience working in the healthtech industry, including working with HL7, HL7 FHIR, or DICOM.
• Experience with modern frontend JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or equivalent for building responsive, user-friendly interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, e.g. GitLab CI.
• Demonstrated knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of an IaC framework.
• Experience deploying and monitoring VPNs.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently.
