Manager, Engineering

About the Role

Garner Health is seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager to join our Business Productivity team, reporting to the VP of Platform Engineering. You will lead a team responsible for improving the efficiency of our internal lines of business by embedding AI into their core workflows.

Location & Work Arrangement

This role is based in our New York City office (Financial District). You must be willing to work in the office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team through coaching, authentic feedback, and hiring.
• Partner closely with internal business units to identify high-leverage opportunities and ship features end-to-end that deliver measurable employee productivity gains.
• Drive the delivery of AI-native solutions.
• Own core services and ensure secure, high-quality, and reliable experiences in a fast-moving environment.
• Balance quality with delivery speed, identify bottlenecks, and clearly communicate tradeoffs across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
• Set technical direction across the team’s roadmap and its three bets: AI adoption, employee efficiency, and foundational improvements.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience and 2+ years managing engineering teams.
• Experience building web applications and APIs on cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar).
• Strong sense of ownership and proactive problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to partner with non-technical business stakeholders and translate their workflows into effective technical solutions.
• Experience thriving in a startup or other fast-moving, high-accountability environment.
• A desire to be part of a high-performing, mission-driven team that operates with intense urgency, a strong sense of individual accountability, and a commitment to authentic feedback.
