About the Role
Wealthfront is seeking a talented, passionate, and detail-oriented compliance professional to join our newly formed Home Lending Compliance team. Our goal is a seamless, tech-enabled mortgage process, and we are looking for a systems builder to help construct the foundational regulatory framework that supports it.
As the newest member of the Home Lending Compliance team, you will partner directly with the Head of Home Lending Compliance to manage day-to-day regulatory requirements while actively identifying opportunities to improve and modernize our compliance workflows. Critically, this role will take full ownership of our licensing program and play a key part in our geographic expansion. You will operate cross-functionally, collaborating closely with Home Lending Operations, Legal, and the corporate Compliance team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent pre-funding and post-closing Quality Control (QC) reviews on mortgage loan files (including Agency and Non-Agency) to ensure compliance with investor quality standards and federal/state regulations, actively identifying patterns to improve automated system logic.
- Own and manage the end-to-end licensing program for state company and branch licenses and individual Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) licenses through the NMLS, taking full responsibility for timely renewals, Continuing Education (CE) and Pre-Licensing (PE) tracking, state reporting, and acting as the primary compliance contact for licensing inquiries.
- Partner with the Head of Home Lending Compliance to drive state expansion efforts, researching state-specific origination guidelines, monitoring local regulatory changes, and ensuring operational compliance readiness as we roll out the product in new states.
- Review and approve home lending marketing materials, advertising, and social media content to ensure strict adherence to federal and state regulations, including TILA (Reg Z) and MAP (Reg N).
- Partner with the corporate Compliance Operations and Home Lending Operations teams to investigate and disposition consumer complaints, and assist in administering home lending-specific compliance training.
- Manage the preparation, quality assurance, and submission of the company's annual regulatory reporting, and support fair lending monitoring activities related to underwriting, pricing, and geographic distribution.
- Support the Head of Home Lending Compliance in preparing for and responding to state and federal regulatory examinations and audits, and investor audits.
- Collaborate with the Head of Home Lending Compliance to draft, maintain, and modernize standard operating procedures (SOPs) and departmental policies, prioritizing efficiency and reduced manual toil.
- Act as a subject matter expert and compliance escalation point for the Home Lending Operations team, providing regular guidance and leading targeted compliance training sessions.
