Cloud Security Intern

About the Internship

Tanium's Cloud Cybersecurity internship offers hands-on experience securing business-to-business security applications. With support from a dedicated mentor and engineers, interns select and deliver a mentor-vetted project and present their work to Tanium's R&D team at the end of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the Cloud Cybersecurity team and gain experience in cloud security and operations.
• Deliver a well-defined project that improves security at Tanium.
• Present the completed project to the R&D team.

Potential projects include:

• Implementing detective and preventive security controls for Tanium Cloud security operations.
• Implementing DevOps security tools that provide security context and recommendations for deployed cloud resources.
• Identifying and processing security operations data to create or improve dashboards and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future.
• Available to work full-time from June 7, 2027, through August 13, 2027.
• Currently enrolled as a bachelor's degree candidate with a required GPA of at least 3.5.
• Graduating in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Some experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS.
• Passion for hands-on learning and solving security challenges.
• Ability to communicate and work with peers.
• Prior internship experience is preferred.

Location and Schedule

• Hybrid role based in Durham, NC.
• The current schedule requires at least three days per week in the Durham office.

Compensation and Benefits

• Estimated hourly rate: $55.00. The actual offer may vary based on education, skills, training, experience, and other factors.
• Interns are eligible for a housing stipend, 401(k) matching, and a monthly communications reimbursement allowance.
• Team members receive five days of volunteer time off; interns and other contractors become eligible after 90 days of employment.
