About Faire

Faire is a technology wholesale platform connecting independent retailers with products from brands around the world.

Role

As an AV Engineer on the AV Operations team, you will own day-to-day operations for standard conference rooms, phone booths, and workplace media systems. Your work includes preventative maintenance, hands-on troubleshooting and repair, digital signage and background music operations, and live event support.

This role requires full-time onsite attendance in Faire's San Francisco office, five days per week. You will also support other offices remotely, with occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Own preventative maintenance for standard conference rooms and phone booths, including displays, video bars, controllers, schedulers, table microphones, and cabling.
  • Perform daily San Francisco room sweeps, review reports from other offices, and triage findings into immediate fixes, scheduled remediation, or strategic projects.
  • Respond to AV tickets against defined response and resolution targets, diagnosing and repairing hardware, cabling, mounts, controllers, schedulers, and provisioning issues.
  • Resolve issues remotely through tools such as Zoom Admin Portal and Logitech Sync, including restarts, re-provisioning, and room setting updates.
  • Keep managed AV devices current within IT Security update timelines, including schedulers, iPads, Mac Mini codecs, and Logitech CollabOS devices. Plan update waves, track fleet compliance, and flag devices that cannot be updated.
  • Inspect displays for burn-in and image retention, enforce background rotation standards, and validate display power schedules.
  • Own digital signage content intake, scheduling, publishing, expiration, and templates across offices.
  • Administer office background music, including account approval, endpoint troubleshooting, zone volume, and office-specific schedules. Enable Workplace partners to manage playlists and zones.
  • Maintain common-area displays and shared AV systems, along with a documented spares inventory and reorder thresholds.
  • Keep room records, as-built notes, SOPs, and runbooks current. Write repeatable first-line troubleshooting procedures for IT Ops.
  • Train end users in complex rooms and event spaces, including source and display selection, Zoom Rooms controllers, UCI panels, wireless microphones, and podium inputs. Guide teams running smaller live events.
  • Identify repeat failures and rooms approaching end of life to inform lifecycle and refresh planning.
  • Support live events through setup, sound checks, microphone handling, and day-of assistance.
  • Partner with senior AV engineers on DSP, Q-SYS, Dante, RF, and complex-room issues, providing documented diagnoses and collaborating through resolution.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years supporting AV, IT, or workplace technology.
  • Hands-on experience with video conferencing room systems. Zoom Rooms is strongly preferred, along with Logitech Rally, Tap, Sync, or equivalent systems.
  • Comfort with displays, mounts, cabling, and HDMI and USB signal flow, supported by a methodical troubleshooting approach.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP, VLANs, PoE, DHCP, and AV device dependencies.
  • Ticket-driven support experience and clear written documentation habits.
  • A service orientation that holds up under pressure in visible employee and leadership meeting spaces.
  • Physical ability to work on ladders, lift equipment, and access ceilings and racks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Digital signage platform experience.
  • Familiarity with commercial audio, including passive speakers, amplifiers, and operational DSP concepts.
  • Exposure to Q-SYS, Shure, or Dante environments.
  • Familiarity with MDM for Apple devices.
  • Live event or production support experience.

Compensation and Benefits

  • San Francisco annual base salary: $144,000–$198,000.
  • Eligible for equity and comprehensive benefits.
