Android Engineer, Social

About the Role

Robinhood Social is building a network where active traders connect through real trades, track records, market moments, and creators. The full-stack team spans backend, mobile, and web engineering and collaborates to ship end-to-end features.

As an Android Engineer, you will build and improve social, creator-driven, and content-rich investing experiences, including feeds, sharing, onboarding, and creator-facing surfaces. The role emphasizes Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android architecture components, Gradle, and product-facing engineering fundamentals.

Location and Work Arrangement

• The posting lists Menlo Park, CA, and New York, NY.
• The team is based in the New York office, with in-person attendance expected at least three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Build smooth, stable, and elegant products using Kotlin and the newest Android APIs.
• Own features from inception through design, implementation, and launch.
• Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, Backend Developers, and the Data team.
• Work with Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Coroutines and Flow (preferred) or RxJava, and Retrofit and Room.
• Help a fast-growing team build financial products at speed and scale.

Qualifications

• At least three years of professional Android development experience building consumer Android applications at scale, preferably using Kotlin and Compose.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java, and Jetpack.
• Attention to detail and a passion for clean, readable, maintainable code.
• Desire to improve Robinhood's app and codebase to deliver outstanding quality.
• Strong product sense and ability to collaborate with Product Managers and Designers.
• Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for solving technical challenges.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred; equivalent training or work experience is also acceptable.

Compensation

Annual base pay depends on location, education, training, experience, business needs, and market demands:

• Zone 1: $166,000–$195,000 USD for Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; and Washington, DC.
• Zone 2: $147,000–$172,000 USD for Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; and Chicago, IL.
• Zone 3: $130,000–$152,000 USD for Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; and Gainesville, FL.
• Compensation for other locations can be discussed with the recruiter during interviews.
• The role is also eligible for bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits, including performance-driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact.
