Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

Xometry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Core Platform team. This role is a strategic technical leadership position focused on the architectural evolution of our flagship enterprise partnership.

You will be responsible for re-architecting Xometry’s core application services to live natively within our partner's digital ecosystem. You will shape the technical direction of multiple products, establishing engineering patterns that allow Xometry’s AI to operate directly on our partner's native 3D geometry with zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement.

*This role requires a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) at our North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA office location.*

How You'll Contribute

• Software Development and Technical Craft: Design high-performance solutions extending beyond a single org, establishing organizational standards for embedding Xometry-AI into external PLM environments, adhering to strict enterprise SLIs/SLOs.
• AI Fluency: Lead efforts to integrate production ML pipelines into the application layer with optimized model serving and real-time geometry analysis. Champion AI-assisted development practices and mentor engineers.
• Problem Solving and Decision Making: Address challenges around data gravity and security, creating formal networks between engineering groups and ensuring "ring-fenced" data governance.
• Scope and Impact: Establish the strategic direction and execution of core integrations, ensuring integration of DFM (Manufacturability) and IQE (Pricing) AI engines.
• Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate technical discourse across the organization, guide risk/reward conversations, and champion cross-functional development.
• Operational Excellence: Define reliability and security standards for enterprise-grade partner-hosted or Xometry-hosted deployments.

Qualifications

• Experience: 12+ years of professional software development experience, scaling complex platforms.
• Deep Technical Expertise: Expert-level mastery of Python, AWS infrastructure, and modern frontend frameworks (React/NextJS).
• Systems Architect: Proven experience shaping the technical direction of multiple teams and establishing engineering patterns.
• Strategic Roadmap Execution: Track record of securing endorsement for 6-12 month initiatives and driving them to production.
• Communication: Ability to influence senior leadership and external partners on technical strategy.
• Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building SaaS platforms or complex B2B integration hubs.
• Experience with manufacturing, logistics, or CAD/PLM software ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of enterprise data controls, dedicated tenants, and SOC2/ISO compliance in cloud environments.
• Experience architecting large-scale ML platforms or high-frequency marketplace engines.
