About Anthropic

Anthropic builds reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems intended to benefit users and society.

About the Role

As an Applied AI Architect, Cyber Specialist, you will join an overlay team of domain experts helping enterprise account teams put Claude to work on security problems. Rather than owning accounts, you will provide security expertise across a portfolio, guiding customers from early pilots to sustained production workloads.

Customers include regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, and healthcare; semiconductor companies with IP protection, industrial control system, and export-control concerns; digital natives; and public sector agencies.

How the Team Works

  • Partner with account executives, account architects, and generalist Applied AI engineers who own customer relationships and broader technical engagements.
  • Build reusable playbooks, reference implementations, and evaluation approaches across accounts.
  • Translate customer security-program needs into feedback for Product, Research, and Engineering.
  • Enable independent software vendors, systems integrators, and managed security providers rather than competing with them for engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer security programs, identify meaningful Claude use cases, and develop technical plans and business cases.
  • Advise strategic enterprise accounts from discovery through deployment.
  • Expand customers beyond one-time code scanning into application security throughout the SDLC, continuous automated penetration testing, alert triage and investigation, and threat intelligence and vulnerability assessment.
  • Build and maintain reference implementations, harnesses, and evaluation approaches that customers can adapt to their environments and controls.
  • Run workshops and hands-on sessions using customers’ own code and workflows.
  • Equip partners to deliver Claude-powered security outcomes with clear delivery responsibilities.
  • Explain security value and risk to audiences ranging from application security engineers to CISOs and executives.
  • Define and track workload adoption depth, partnering with Product and Engineering on measurement telemetry.
  • Write reusable playbooks and best practices explaining how Claude complements existing security tools.
  • Develop reference customers who can describe the value they achieve.
  • Stay current on frontier LLM capabilities and emerging vulnerabilities and attacks.
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites for workshops and technical deep dives.

Qualifications

Candidates may be a good fit with:

  • At least 5 years in security roles, with hands-on depth in at least two areas: application security and secure SDLC; offensive security and penetration testing; detection and response; or threat intelligence and vulnerability management.
  • Experience in a technical customer-facing role, such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, security consultant, or TAM, or experience securing leadership investment while working on a security team.
  • Experience with large enterprise customers, complex multi-stakeholder buying cycles, and existing vendors and partners.
  • Ability to translate between security teams, engineering teams, and executives.
  • Comfort with Python, CI/CD, and cloud environments, plus hands-on experience applying LLMs to security work such as code review, vulnerability discovery, triage, or investigation.
  • An interest in teaching and a collaborative approach to cross-team work and competing priorities.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • A field relevant to the role, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
  • Internal job level requirements determine the applicable minimum experience expectations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual compensation range: $300,000–$400,000 USD.
  • For sales roles, published ranges represent on-target earnings, including annual base salary and target sales commissions or bonuses.
  • Benefits include optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office space for collaboration.

Location and Logistics

  • Listed locations: San Francisco, CA, and New York City, NY.
  • The posting lists this role as on-site. Anthropic’s general hybrid policy expects staff in an office at least 25% of the time; some roles require more attendance.
