Staff Network Engineer, Storage

Crusoe

Sunnyvale, Ca · on site · full time · Staff

$215,000 - $255,000

About the Role

Every model Crusoe trains and every cluster brought online depends on data moving at the speed AI workloads demand, starting with the network underneath it. Crusoe is building a dedicated storage network plane running on RDMA, purpose-built for lossless, low-latency performance distinct from the general compute network.

As a Staff Network Engineer, you will architect and own this storage network end-to-end, from spine to leaf, serving as the deep technical authority as the infrastructure scales.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Architect and operate the storage network end-to-end (spine to leaf), making core design decisions for scale.
  • Serve as the primary line of defense when cluster fabric issues arise, tracing packets through switch pipelines and identifying root causes under production pressure.
  • Troubleshoot across the full stack into the OS network stack, NIC drivers, and associated software layers.
  • Build automation and tooling to enable debugging, monitoring, and operating the network at scale.
  • Partner closely with SDN and Network Edge teams to apply software-defined principles.
  • Bridge network engineering realities with storage architecture needs.

Qualifications

  • Real, production L2/L3 networking experience operating switches under pressure.
  • Strong scripting and debugging instincts down to the TCP/IP level.
  • High sense of ownership for end-to-end issue resolution and on-call responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex network concepts across technical domains.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Bonus Points

  • Spine-layer switch expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with RDMA, RoCEv2, DCQCN/PFC, or similar lossless, low-latency technologies.
  • Software-defined networking (SDN) mindset and focus on automation.
  • Experience with client-side networking (OS stack behavior, NIC drivers).
  • Exposure to storage protocols such as NFS.
  • Background at a storage-infrastructure company or switch experience in hyperscale/cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Benefits

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with up to 4% match, equity (RSUs), paid time off, paid parental leave, HSA contributions, commuter benefits, daily meals allowance, and cell phone stipend.
