The Team You'll Work With

The KYC (Know Your Customer) team is building the compliance infrastructure that powers every transaction in private markets, from Limited Partner (LP) onboarding to tender offers to transaction-level screening for Private Equity (PE). Across Carta's fund administration, Carta Law, and LP KYC-as-a-service offerings, the team screens over 1.5 million entities per year. The team is currently re-architecting a fragmented set of products into a unified KYC platform—part greenfield build, part strategic integration.

The Problems You'll Solve

As a Senior Software Engineer II, KYC, you will lead technically complex projects and serve as a multiplier for your team:

• Drive Implementation: Lead the execution of complex technical projects, driving them from concept to production while maintaining high standards for performance and reliability.
• Simplify Systems: Dig deep into architecture to identify opportunities to simplify code and infrastructure, prioritizing changes that have a measurable business impact.
• Leverage Modern Tooling: Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate workflow, improve code quality, and spend more time solving high-level logic and unconventional problems.
• Foster Growth: Act as a mentor and coach, raising the technical bar for peers through diligent PR reviews and architectural guidance.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product and design to build the right solutions for users.

About You

• The Tech Stack: Experience with (or a desire to learn) core technologies: Python, Django, React, Postgres, and Kafka. Also utilize Java, gRPC, and AWS.
• Execution: Ability to break down complex user stories into actionable tasks and execute them with minimal guidance.
• Strategic Mindset: Understand the "why" behind code and articulate technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Experience: Recommend 8+ years of professional software engineering experience for this level.
