Senior Mobile Cross Platform Engineer

About the Role

Chime is seeking a Senior Mobile Cross Platform Engineer to shape its React Native app by building infrastructure and tooling that make development faster, safer, and more scalable for hundreds of engineers working alongside AI. The app serves more than 10 million monthly active members.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain internal frameworks, developer tooling, and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve app quality, performance, and observability.
• Identify bottlenecks and automate mobile CI/CD and release orchestration to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
• Improve tooling to reduce friction in the developer workflow and increase engineering velocity.
• Mentor engineers and improve technical standards, code quality, and delivery practices through design reviews and guidance.
• Partner with QA to lead mobile releases across iOS and Android.
• Build and scale infrastructure supporting AI-enabled app development.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of cross-platform mobile development experience, ideally with React Native.
• A collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and a drive to document and share your work.
• Strong TypeScript fluency and familiarity with React and React Native.
• Experience with iOS and Android build, configuration, and distribution systems.
• Experience shipping apps used by millions of users.
• A track record of profiling and improving app performance.
• Familiarity with observability and analytics tools such as Bugsnag, Datadog, Sentry, or Hex.
• Deep understanding of server-client architecture, leveraging GraphQL and performance profiling, including memory pressure, screen latency, time to interactive, and preloading.
• Experience with mobile build infrastructure platforms such as Bitrise, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with feature flags, runtime controls, or OTA delivery frameworks such as Expo Updates or CodePush.
• Experience building infrastructure supporting AI-native mobile development.
• Familiarity with state management tools such as Redux, React Context, AsyncStorage, or MMKV.
• Experience scaling mobile quality practices and testing frameworks.

Location and Work Policy

• Locations: New York, NY, or San Francisco, CA.
• The posting is tagged on-site. The stated office policy is four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary: $164,000–$227,000 USD. Actual base pay may be higher depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
• Full-time employees may be eligible for bonuses, competitive equity, and benefits.
