Software Engineer, Account Security

About the Role

Join Roblox's Account Security team within the Safety organization to protect users, creators, and the broader community from account compromise. The team works across the technical stack to prevent, detect, and mitigate account takeovers. Previous work includes modeling post-login suspicion, cryptographically binding credentials to devices, malware detection, and detecting and preventing asset laundering.

The Safety organization detects, removes, and prevents problematic accounts, content, and behavior. Its work spans machine learning, classifiers, experimentation, automation, and AI-powered filters, in partnership with product teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, implementation, and delivery of features to prevent, detect, and mitigate account takeovers.
• Collaborate with InfoSec, Economy, User, and other Roblox Safety teams.
• Help determine how goals are accomplished and influence product direction.
• Instrument and analyze user interaction data, including A/B tests and usage metrics, to inform design decisions and maximize product impact.
• Own implementation end to end across the stack, contributing in Go, Python, TypeScript, and Lua as projects require and using AI tools wherever possible.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering/Computer Science.
• Experience working on user-facing applications or services.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, C#, and JavaScript.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product stakeholders to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Strong commitment to designing, implementing, and maintaining systems that prioritize user safety, data integrity, and compliance with safety policies.

Compensation and Work Arrangement

• Full-time, salaried position based in San Mateo, California.
• Expected annual base salary: $182,170–$227,370 USD. Actual compensation depends on job-related factors and may fall outside this range; the range may change.
• Full-time employees are eligible for equity compensation and benefits.
• Office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional office presence on Monday and Friday unless otherwise noted.
