About the Role
The Staff Product Manager is an Individual Contributor (IC) product leader responsible for a broad platform surface for Atlas Infinite at MongoDB. Atlas Infinite is an architectural innovation in MongoDB Atlas purpose-built to handle today's speed and scale of development and demand.
In this position, you will own and solve end-to-end problems around the user experience and database experience of Atlas Infinite, including feature discovery, activation, monetization, and retention. You will own cross-team product and architectural trade-offs, establish reusable standards for PM craft, and align senior stakeholders around multi-year bets.
Responsibilities
- Interlinked Vision & Multi-Year Bets: Set and champion a product vision across Atlas Infinite's capabilities, exploring decoupled compute and storage potential for developers, enterprises, and emerging AI workloads. Make the case for investment and prioritization, including build-vs-buy considerations.
- Cross-Team Execution: Own execution health across workstreams, negotiating sequencing, scope, and resource trade-offs with engineering leaders and peer PMs across database, storage, Atlas platform, migration, backup, security, and cloud infrastructure teams.
- Execution & Research Standards: Establish lightweight operating practices and shared research frameworks for workload qualification, customer-representative testing, win/loss analysis, launch readiness, and post-launch learning.
- Product Health: Resolve complex post-launch escalations spanning architecture, performance, migration, observability, supportability, or ownership, turning signals into systemic fixes.
- Customer Discovery: Identify emerging customer needs, competitive dynamics, and unexpected use cases via interviews, workload/pricing evidence, analytics, and experiments.
- Outbound & GTM: Partner with PMM, pricing, sales, solutions architecture, customer success, documentation, and support on high-stakes customer engagements, positioning, and enablement playbooks.
- Executive Alignment: Synthesize customer experience, technical readiness, adoption, and commercial impact into clear product narratives for senior leadership.
- Mentorship: Mentor PMs across the area, sharing frameworks for cross-team alignment, technical trade-offs, and communication.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of product management or equivalent product leadership experience, with a track record shaping strategy and outcomes for complex technical platforms across multiple teams.
- Strong technical fluency in cloud databases, distributed data systems, storage infrastructure, developer experiences, or adjacent developer platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to discover opportunities beyond the current roadmap and test hypotheses.
- Experience taking a complex product from early adoption toward dependable, broader use.
- Proven ability to influence without authority across partner teams.
- Strong commercial and analytical judgment regarding workload-level value, unit economics, pricing, and build-vs-buy analysis.
- Exceptional communication skills across technical, executive, and go-to-market audiences.
Success Measures
- 3 Months: Build a shared picture of target workloads, clarify ownership with peers, establish baselines, and identify key questions to investigate.
- 6 Months: Influence consequential roadmap and GA-readiness decisions with customer evidence and build a defined learning agenda for future bets.
- 12 Months: Demonstrate measurable portfolio progress against established baselines for qualified adoption, customer experience, and broader workload readiness.
