Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview

Xometry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Core Platform team. This role is a strategic technical leadership position focused on the architectural evolution of our flagship enterprise partnership.

You will be responsible for re-architecting Xometry’s core application services to live natively within our partner's digital ecosystem. You will shape the technical direction of multiple products, establishing the engineering patterns that allow Xometry’s AI—trained on millions of parts—to operate directly on our partner's native 3D geometry to deliver zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement.

*Note: This role requires a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) at our North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA office location.*

Responsibilities

• Software Development and Technical Craft: Design high-performance solutions that extend beyond a single org, establishing organizational standards for how Xometry-AI is embedded into external PLM environments. Ensure frameworks are extensible, scalable, and adhere to strict enterprise SLIs/SLOs.
• AI Fluency: Lead the effort to integrate production ML pipelines into the application layer with optimized model serving and real-time geometry analysis. Champion AI-assisted development practices and mentor engineers.
• Problem Solving and Decision Making: Address unique challenges regarding data gravity and security, creating governance frameworks where part files remain securely within the partner's network infrastructure.
• Scope and Impact: Establish strategic direction and lead execution of core integrations, integrating DFM and IQE AI engines.
• Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate technical discourse across the organization, leading to well-documented decisions and guiding risk/reward conversations with leadership.
• Operational Excellence: Define reliability and security standards for enterprise-grade deployments and ensure seamless multi-tenant management.

Qualifications

Required

• 12+ years of professional software development experience, scaling complex platforms.
• Expert-level mastery of Python, AWS infrastructure, and modern frontend frameworks (React/Next.js) used for enterprise applications.
• Proven experience shaping technical direction across teams and setting engineering patterns.
• Track record of securing endorsement for 6-12 month strategic initiatives and driving them to production.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and external partners on technical strategy.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred

• Background in building SaaS platforms or complex B2B integration hubs.
• Experience with manufacturing, logistics, or CAD/PLM software ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of enterprise data controls, dedicated tenants, and SOC2/ISO compliance in cloud environments.
• Experience architecting large-scale ML platforms or high-frequency marketplace engines.
