Staff Software Engineer, DevPlatform

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to develop and maintain our cutting-edge backend for the developer platform. You'll collaborate with colleagues across specialties to design and implement scalable, efficient solutions at internet scale.

What You’ll Be Working On

• Building a platform that is highly available, extremely reliable, low on latency, and at internet scale.
• Creating and driving our Storage as a service strategy.
• Building the technical foundation for future features and experiences.
• Creating a collaborative and supportive team with a strong sense of ownership.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the underlying infrastructure of the developer platform.
• Build new features for external developers such as SQL db as a service.
• Contribute to the entire development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. Review code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
• Contribute meaningfully to team strategy and planning for the future.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industry experience in backend, infrastructure, developer tools, or app platforms.
• Technical leader in the execution of large-scale projects as well as day-to-day troubleshooting.
• Experience with Go, TypeScript, Redis, distributed SQL, and Kubernetes.
• Mentoring and coaching other engineers, leading by example with strong software engineering best practices.
• Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that people love.
• Entrepreneurial spirit: self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully-remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
