About the Role

Roblox is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer through its 2027 PhD Early Career program. Own high-impact projects from ideation through production deployment and academic publication, bringing advanced research into production at global scale.

Research areas include computer vision and graphics, multimodality, natural language processing, and recommendation systems. Your work will help build AI-driven infrastructure for immersive entertainment and improve engagement, safety, and the content ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Prototype and implement advanced AI and machine learning solutions for core platform features and innovation at scale.
• Develop and deploy models, including deep learning, generative AI, and multimodal architectures, to address complex technical challenges.
• Collaborate with applied researchers, engineers, and product teams to translate research into production-ready systems.
• Turn complex research into scalable, robust infrastructure serving hundreds of millions of daily active users.
• Work backward from user and product needs to architecture and delivery of ML solutions.

Qualifications

• Hold or be pursuing a PhD in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a thesis aligned to Roblox’s research areas.
• Deep expertise and curiosity in a relevant technical domain, such as deep learning, computer vision, NLP, reinforcement learning, or distributed systems.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, C++, Go, or Java, and experience building and optimizing large-scale systems.
• Strong research track record demonstrated by multiple publications and presentations in rigorous peer-reviewed venues.

Compensation and Work Arrangement

• Annual base salary range: $196,750–$243,290 USD. Actual compensation depends on job-related factors and may fall outside the stated range; the range may change.
• Full-time employees are eligible for equity compensation and employee benefits.
• Office-based roles require onsite attendance Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional attendance Monday and Friday unless otherwise noted.
