About Nextdoor

Nextdoor is a neighborhood network serving more than 350,000 neighborhoods across 11 countries. Its engineering teams work with product management and design in small, cross-functional teams that value code quality, learning, and collaboration.

The Role

Join the Rewards & Incentives pod within the Local Conversations team as a Fullstack Engineer. Build product experiences that encourage meaningful participation in neighborhood communities, working across frontend and backend systems with a strong focus on React and Python/Django web experiences.

This is a hands-on role contributing initially to two evolving product areas. Level will be determined based on experience and demonstrated proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to entity-relationship modeling, solution architecture, implementation, testing, and iteration.
  • Partner with product, design, and engineering teammates to translate product requirements into maintainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with frontend, backend, data science, infrastructure, and machine learning engineers to improve engineering practices.
  • Actively use AI tools in your workflow, challenge your own thinking, and take ownership of AI-assisted outputs. Examples used at Nextdoor include Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Glean.
  • Participate in team operating practices, including a gradual on-call shadow rotation after onboarding and ramp-up.
  • Participate in applicable in-person trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team-building events.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of software development experience, including building and shipping production software.
  • Demonstrated ability to own projects with increasing independence.
  • Strong frontend fundamentals and experience with modern JavaScript and React.
  • Experience with a server-side web application language; Python/Django experience is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQL and development across frontend and backend systems.
  • Ability to break down product requirements, collaborate on technical approaches, and implement maintainable solutions.
  • Strong collaboration and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Interest in contributing ideas and product perspective rather than only executing predefined tasks.
  • Eagerness to explore and apply AI tools and emerging technologies.
  • Interest in building relationships with teammates and contributing to company culture.
  • Storybook experience or other component-driven development practices is a plus.
