Data Engineering Internship (2027)

Figma is seeking Data Engineering interns to help scale the systems and pipelines that power decision-making. Interns will partner with engineers and analysts to build reliable datasets, ensure data quality, and make data more accessible across the company.

This internship is based in Figma’s San Francisco, CA or New York, NY hub offices.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and document pipelines that bring product or business data into Figma’s data warehouse.
• Help design trusted, well-documented, easy-to-use foundational datasets.
• Optimize pipelines for performance and scalability.
• Partner with cross-functional teammates to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
• Contribute to tools and practices that simplify working with data.
• With support from a manager and mentor, own a scoped project from problem definition through implementation, testing, documentation, and presenting results.

Potential Projects

• Develop ETL jobs to integrate product or business data into the warehouse.
• Improve the performance and reliability of core pipelines.
• Build reusable datasets supporting experimentation, product and business analytics, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Document and simplify complex data workflows.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience coding in Python or a similar language and writing SQL queries.
• Experience building or working with data pipelines, ETL, or large datasets.
• Curiosity about data systems and interest in improving scalability and reliability.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Enthusiasm for learning, receiving feedback, and growing as a data engineer.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly base pay: $46 USD.
• Housing stipend and travel reimbursement for interns.
• Compensation and benefits are subject to change.

Interview and Application Requirements

• Candidates must keep cameras on during video interviews.
• Hired candidates must attend in-person onboarding.
