PathAI aims to improve patient outcomes through AI-powered pathology, improving diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficacy. Its AI algorithms support histopathology in translational research, pathology labs, and clinical trials.

The Role

As a Software Engineer I, Fullstack, help build PathAI's growing software platform. The current stack includes Python, Vue.js, Django and DRF, Docker, and AWS services including EKS, S3, RDS/PostgreSQL, SQS, and MSK/Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Solve problems with code, build features for internal and external users, and refactor existing functionality.
• Work across systems, processes, and technologies, from low-level systems to frontend interfaces.
• Help drive application platform architecture with the team and future product roadmap in mind.
• Collaborate with product, design, machine learning, and infrastructure teams.
• Uphold engineering standards through consistent code, reviews, testing, and integration.
• Mentor others, learn, and share knowledge.
• Take responsibility for your own and the team's code quality.
• Contribute to a SaaS platform supporting clinical trial workflows, ensuring reliability, data integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
• Work with clinical, QA, and regulatory teams to meet software validation expectations and support inspection readiness.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or an advanced degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Some experience across the full software development lifecycle using Python.
• Experience designing and building Python applications using FastAPI or Django.
• A foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Proactivity and demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a complex domain.
• Ability to collaborate with a distributed team and work autonomously on projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• AWS cloud platform experience and knowledge of an infrastructure-as-code framework.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.

Location and Compensation

• Hybrid position based in Boston, MA. The posting also lists Boston and Remote as location options.
• Expected annual salary range for Boston: $96,750–$148,350. Actual pay depends on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other legally permitted job-related factors.
