Embedded UI Engineer

About the Role

We are a small, dynamic team focused on building cloud-managed access control systems. Access Control is Verkada’s second major product line, allowing users to manage their doors, schedules, and user credentials from virtually anywhere on their laptop or phone.

We are building a line of embedded devices with screens and need an embedded UI engineer to build interfaces for these devices. You will have the challenge of building intuitive experiences in a constrained hardware environment, as well as helping develop a UI framework for all Verkada screen devices now and in the future.

Responsibilities

• Tackle large, complex problems with no clear answers as a self-motivated problem solver.
• Learn new technologies while being entrusted with the technical ownership of major product components.
• Develop intuitive, responsive interfaces for screen-based embedded hardware.
• Collaborate closely with a dynamic team of engineers and UX designers to build and refine products from concept to completion.

Qualifications

• BS or a graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related science.
• 3+ years of experience in UI development on embedded devices, video games, and/or mobile applications.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• A strong sense of visual design and UX.
• Excited by new products and startups; focused on delivering best-in-class experiences rather than just features.
• Ability to take a less-than-fully-fleshed-out product idea and drive it to completion.
• Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Android mobile application development experience.
