We are in charge of common shared services like search, cache, configuration management, frameworks for async job management, and email pipelines. We're cloud native, where redundancy, multi-tenancy, scale, resource optimization, and resiliency are first-class citizens.

We are looking for a Staff-level backend engineer to join our team to own and deliver high-scale infrastructure services.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure projects on a modern tech stack (Redis, Docker, Terraform on AWS).
  • Drive evaluation, development, and rollout of new common features and frameworks.
  • Operate, support, and upgrade shared services and frameworks, scaling them with business growth.
  • Conduct design and code reviews, ensuring high programming standards through unit and functional tests.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within the services and frameworks owned by the team.
  • Evaluate system performance and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
  • Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, security, and operations engineers.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of expansive programming experience in an object-oriented programming language such as Java, especially in backend services.
  • Superior understanding of multithreading, garbage collection, and memory management.
  • 3+ years of experience working with MySQL or equivalent relational database systems.
  • 3+ years of experience developing, operating, optimizing, and troubleshooting web services on Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with REST and a thorough understanding of its fundamentals.
  • Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, AWS, Redis, and Docker.
  • Knowledge of network security, authentication, and authorization.
  • Demonstrably followed best software engineering principles.
  • Ability to establish U.S. Person status (e.g., U.S. Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) to access federal environments.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience with AWS EKS and/or GCP.
  • Experience with database design and fine-tuning queries.
  • Knowledge of gRPC.
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes.

Benefits

Health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, paid leave (including PTO and parental leave), and equity.
