Senior Software Engineer (C++)

The Role

The Consumer App Foundation team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to improve Roblox performance across all supported platforms (Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and TV). You will work primarily in cross-platform C++ game engine code, partnering with teams across the company to identify bottlenecks, ship measurable improvements, and prevent regressions over time.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end performance of the Roblox client across all platforms, moving key metrics such as TTI, app size, battery usage, and responsiveness.
• Build benchmarking, profiling, and telemetry systems required to catch regressions early and scale the application.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and Design to evaluate technical tradeoffs, align on priorities, and execute rollout plans.
• Dive into complex, unfamiliar codebases, take ambitious projects from greenfield MVP to production-grade, and mentor peers on performance best practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience writing high-quality, performant C++ code in large, complex codebases.
• Proven track record of building reliable measurement, monitoring, or regression prevention systems.
• Ability to autonomously navigate complex, ambiguous systems and deliver stable, production-grade software.
• Exceptional communication skills to discuss technical trade-offs with engineering peers and cross-functional partners.

Bonus

• Hands-on experience with on-device profiling (iOS and/or Android) to find and measure optimization opportunities.

Work Arrangement

Roles based in the San Mateo headquarters are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.
