[Summer 2027] Software Engineer Intern

About the Role

Roblox is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in San Mateo, California. This full-time, 12-week internship combines dedicated mentorship with end-to-end ownership of a production project. Technical challenges may include distributed systems, real-time communication, 3D co-experience, data processing, and rendering.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers and a dedicated mentor to deliver live production projects.
• Investigate and experiment with machine learning frameworks, agentic coding tools, and large language models to solve technical challenges and improve engineering systems.
• Own a project from coding and testing through production deployment, and present results to peers and company leaders.
• Collaborate with Design, Product, Data, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver products and features.
• Connect with fellow interns and full-time employees, and participate in tailored events with company leadership.
• Participate in team matching across areas including Infra, Engine, Search and Discovery, Foundational AI, and Economy, sharing your interests and preferences.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Working toward proficiency or already proficient in one or more programming languages; examples listed include Go, Node.js, Ruby, Python, C++, Lua, Swift, C#, and Java.
• Curious and collaborative, excited to learn, open to feedback, and eager to solve difficult technical challenges with a team.

Schedule and Compensation

• Office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional office presence Monday and Friday unless otherwise noted.
• Posted hourly pay range: $62–$62 USD. Actual pay depends on job-related factors and may fall outside the expected range. The range is subject to change.
