Software Engineer I, Fullstack (Search)

Search has become the default way consumers discover where to shop, compare options, and decide what to buy across platforms. As Affirm builds a new Ads business and evolves Marketplace into a best-in-class shopping experience, improving search is one of our highest-leverage investments to create an experience users choose and merchants want to invest in.

• Work collaboratively and proactively with your team and stakeholders, bringing them along for your work and helping create visibility and dialog regarding risks and trade-offs.
• Strike the right balance of speed and quality in your work, ensuring business goals are met while protecting systems from downtime.
• Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities.

What We Look For

• Previous work or internship experience working with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Previous work or internship experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale, with experience using Python or Kotlin.
• Ability to turn a business scenario into a solution interacting with multiple software components, writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
• Comfortable navigating a large codebase, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• A track record of taking ownership of your growth and proactively seeking feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to support collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
