Software Engineer

About the Role

Roku is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA. You will research, design, and develop computer and network software programs, contributing to the Roku core operating system and streaming platform.

What You'll Be Doing

• Research, design, and develop computer and network software programs.
• Develop software using programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Handle core tasks ranging from partner SOC board bring-up, third-party API integration, Roku OS feature development, code maintenance, designing scalability solutions to onboard new factories, and supporting QA and Channel certification teams.
• Engage in tasks related to end-to-end product development and release cycles.
• Engage in new feature development for Roku core OS to enhance streaming player and Roku TV capabilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field plus 2 years of experience in the position or related occupation).
• Coursework, advanced level coursework, project background, internship, or work experience in:

- Software development methodologies.
- C/C++, Python, and shell scripting.
- API integration.
- Version control, CI/CD, and DevOps tools, including Git, GitHub, Jenkins, and Jira.
- Linux operating systems, including build systems and dependency management.
- Multi-threaded software development with memory management and synchronization techniques.
