About Anthropic
Anthropic builds reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Its Beneficial Deployments team partners with nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven organizations to bring Claude to education, global health, economic mobility, and life sciences.
About the Role
The Applied AI Architect joins the Beneficial Deployments Life Sciences team to help scientists get the most from Claude, especially Claude Science. The role combines scientific enablement, demonstrations, community building, and internal training so Anthropic's Applied AI and customer teams can independently support scientists.
Responsibilities
- Own scientific enablement: select activities, create materials, deliver sessions, and measure whether research teams reach daily use of Claude.
- Lead programs such as LSVP and Claude for Researchers, setting goals, designing programs, and running them.
- Build demos, notebooks, and tutorials showing how frontier models can support scientific work; participate where scientists share tools online.
- Train Applied AI and Customer Success teams and create reusable enablement playbooks.
- Build and lead a scientist community around Claude, serve as an ambassador, and support ambassador programs, meetups, and conferences.
- Translate scientists' feedback into concrete requests and follow them through launch.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications to reach the scientific community.
Qualifications
- Deep hands-on expertise with AI tools for science, such as Claude Science, including their strengths and limitations.
- Scientific credibility through hands-on work in academic labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical companies, or research institutes, ideally using tools similar to those being promoted.
- Experience building or running scientific community programs is a plus.
- A track record of helping scientific teams adopt tools through demos, training, workshops, or hackathons.
- Current knowledge of AI for science, including agentic analysis and AI co-scientists, and the ability to explain these topics to working scientists.
- Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs and prototyping working demos; production coding is not necessary.
- Clear written and spoken communication through talks, tutorials, and documentation.
- Experience taking programs or products from ideas to measurable results, with ownership of direction, execution, and outcomes.
- Comfort with ambiguity, clarifying loosely defined problems, and taking on varied responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Relevant subject knowledge may be demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
- Experience expectations depend on the internal job level; no numerical minimum is specified.
Location and Compensation
- Locations: San Francisco, California, or New York City, New York.
- The posting labels the role on-site. Anthropic's general hybrid policy expects staff in an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more attendance.
- Annual salary: $275,000–$315,000 USD.
- Visa sponsorship is offered, subject to role and candidate eligibility. Anthropic makes reasonable efforts to obtain visas for candidates receiving offers and retains an immigration lawyer.
Benefits
Competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and collaborative office space.
